Join Michelle Barnette, Eric Lualdi, and Leba Lualdi on a journey to expand your knowledge of both yoga and yourself. Through this program - delve into the history and mythology of rich yoga tradition, while deepening your own practice, and learning how to safely and powerfully share yoga with others. This program schedule has your busy life in mind - Wednesday nights and every other weekend with plenty of time for your yoga practice and family/work obligations. Whether or not you are interested in teaching - if you are interested in yoga, learning more about its history and traditions, the mechanics of asana (physical postures), and of a deep exploration of yourself - this is the program for you.

General Schedule Overview:

April 23 - August 28, 2021

  • Wednesdays, 5:30- 9:00pm

  • Every other Friday, 5:30-10:00pm & Saturday, 12:30-5pm

(Note: we will be off the weekend of July 4, meeting the following weekend)

  • Select Sundays for practice teaching (will be scheduled per your availability)

Every effort must be made to attend the scheduled classes as well as regular yoga practice and homework. Limited make up hours will be available for existing conflicts, illness, or emergencies.

Wednesday Sample Itinerary:

  • Inquiry / Journaling

  • The History of Yoga: Yoga History and Patanjali

  • Overview: 4 paths of Yoga & the 8 Limbs

Friday Sample Itinerary:

  • Lecture: Pranayama / Ujjayi / Vinyasa

  • Practice: Pranayama techniques

  • Posture Clinic: Sun Salutation A

Saturday Sample Itinerary:

  • 12:30-2:30pm: Lecture-The Nervous System

  • 2:30-3:30pm: The Nervous System in Practice-PNF Stretching

  • 3:30-4:30pm: Posture Clinic: Sun Salutation B

  • 4:30-5:00pm: Lecture: Teaching with the Yoga Sutras

Program Curriculum (Yoga Alliance Compliant 200 hour):

Techniques Training/Practice (100 hours)

Asana, pranayama, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. Analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and guided practice of the techniques themselves.

Teaching Methodology (25 hours)

Power Sequencing and methods, principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and adjusting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, and business aspects of teaching yoga.

Anatomy and Physiology (25 hours)

Human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.), energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers (30 hours)

Study of yoga philosophy including four limbs, yoga sutras, koshas, gunas, doshas, karma, eight-limbed path. Yoga lifestyle (nutrition and intentional habits) and ethics for yoga teachers.

Practicum (20 hours)

Practice teaching, receiving and giving feedback, observing others teaching.

Requirements for Graduation:

  • Attend all scheduled meetings and workshops

  • Every effort must be made to attend the scheduled classes as well as regular yoga practice and homework. Limited make up hours will be available for existing conflicts, illness, or emergencies.

  • Fully participate in sessions, discussions, practice and readings.

  • Maintain a regular yoga practice

  • Total of 30 studio classes over the course of the program (in person or online)

  • Complete all assigned homework and class observances

  • Pass final exam and teaching exercise

  • Payment received in full

  • 200-Hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training certificate

Pay in Full Discount: Save an extra $50 ($2950 by 3/1, $3250 after 3/1)

Payment Plan: Tuition split into 5 auto-payments 4/23 - 8/23
